Week End Wrap Up (03.15.13): Katy Perry

Your Mama has known for quite some time now that pop music superstar Katy Perry has been house hunting in Los Angeles and that she's eager to get rid of Park Hill, the nearly three acre gated estate she and ex-husband Russell Brand bought for $6.5 million back in their happier matrimonial days (June, 2011) but never actually occupied. We even snitched such to the children in early February (2013).

So, it comes as no surprise then that celebrity gossip juggernaut TMZ reported this week that otherwise unidentified "real estate sources" told them that Miss Perry would liked to have quietly sold the 8,835 square foot 1920s Mediterranean in an off-market deal for close to eight million clams. Alas, despite being shopped around off market and toured by a handful of qualified buyers—including, it was tattled to Your Mama, to at least one famously real estate obsessed actor—the 7 bedroom and 9 bathroom residence remains a costly high maintenance albatross around Miss Perry's real estate neck.

The folks at TMZ went on to report that ex-Missus Brand is getting increasingly antsy and actually plans to foist the Laurel Canyon crib on the open market in two weeks and that the asking price will be in the "mid 7s." TMZ's snitch went on to say that Miss Perry might be willing to sell the property in the high six millions if someone would just offer it. One of Your Mama's better connected celebrity real estate canaries told us not too long ago she might even be willing to take even less, something closer to a break even point, but that's just some real estate rumor and gossip that you did not hear from Your Mama.

Considering the market is flat and this house needs a major renovation, she'll be lucky if she doesn't end up taking a huge hit. Love the ridiculous, I'd be willing to break even BS.... come on lez-be-honest.

Hmm, famously real estate-obsessed actor...Brad Pitt, perhaps?

Ass-ugly house and she overpaid. She better get realistic with the pricing. Ain't gonna break even on this one.

What is that huge gulch running next to it?? It hardly looks kid friendly and does it perhaps fill with water or flooding at times?? I find it hard to believe that with Miss Perry's success in music that she has to wait to buy to sell a property. That said I can only HOPE that for ONCE this young lady has Intelligent Financial handlers who advise her conservatively, so she is not another Nick Cage one day.

Perhaps she should fire the real estate agent and hire an arsonist...

I've always liked this house for some strange reason. It has a lot going for it in that it is historic

http://paradiseleased.wordpress.com/2010/12/03/then-now-the-john-h-blair-and-c-f-dewitt-estates/

and retains much of its originality. The location, near the Chateau Marmont, is also a plus. Three acres and a view in LA? Heaven!

The problem is that every house has a story to tell and a story to write. This house is totally wrong for someone as young as Katy Perry. This house begs for an older actress (I'm thinking Sharon Stone or Faye Dunaway)to retire, move in and go totally Norma Desmond. This house is pleading to write a new, fascinating chapter.

When i read comments like "she totally over paid, this is a horrible house" bla bla bla. the market is flat"... i always know its some realtor who lives in a studio apt somewhere in hollywood and the closest he or she gets to million dollar properties is on tues caravan where he or she also gets a free meal. one realtor comes to mind, I am sure he is still around. his partner from years ago liked to wear cowboy boots to showings .lol anyway, this house is great, the market is not flat, is on fire..and this place (unless she ruined it) is really amazing, i saw it when it first came on market before the redo, the tiki tiki room upstairs was amazing, love that stuff.
